Speculation grew that the "FJ" was derived from Mt. Fuji (in short) when the first Land Cruiser was tested in 1957 and climbed Mt. Fuji in Japan. The other theory was "FJ" is an acronym for Foreign Jeep. This came about after World War II, the U.S. Army gave the contract to Toyota to build a true 4x4 vehicles for the military. The Jeep/Willys objected to this contract and the U.S. Army reversed their decision and awarded to contract to Jeep instead. garie guihan GOT CRUISER? |
